A resume is just a basic chronological explanation of your work history, but how its laid out and worded can make a great amount of difference in how much attention you get. The Resume Creators Are specialists at Creating Professional Résumés That Get Results. They are an active member of the Professional Association of Resume Writers and the National Résumé Writers Association. They create resumes that will get you the interview. Try them out, Mention Career Search Consultants and get 10% off. If you are going to build your own resume here is the basic structure that we like best:
Your address, Your phone numbers, and your E-mail Address (all methods of contacting you should be included as long as they would not be a problem for your current position)
If you work in a highly technical or specialized area you might want to consider a Keyword list. As more and more recruiters and Human Resources Departments go high tech, they rely on computers to do key word searches. Be sure to include the specific types of things you have worked on. For example if you have worked industrial coatings, don't just say industrial coatings. Describe the types of coatings and their applications. Remember that resumes are often screened by human resources recruiters and they generally look for the key words because they may not understand the technology. When working with recruiters try to give them all of the information you can about your background. They are in the business of promoting your skills and abilities, make sure they know them all! Many books and resume resources feel it is important to have the right amount of white space etc... I feel if your resume is neat, easy to read, and laid out in a logical manner the rest is not critical. The content is the key element! Extra Points:If you work for a company that has changed ownership and/or names but you haven't left the company, be careful of how you lay that out so it doesn't look like you have had more jobs than you really have. |
